I think Edward’s colleagues might have been right: if he was having a heart attack or a stroke without realizing it, he might have appeared intoxicated (even if he wasn’t), and his judgment would have been impaired. He probably hardly knew what he was doing at that point.

I guess one of these days someone will drag a body of water or another looking for somebody else and find the Oldsmobile, but I wonder why the men at the garage didn’t stop the couple from leaving. It was very clear Edward was in no condition to drive that night, his wife herself said that — but no one acted on it.
