The basic idea is similar to the technique used by their American counterpart — the Ghost Army — that employed inflatable dummy tanks, fake cannons, jeeps, airfields and even fake troop bivouacs (with fake laundry hanging on clotheslines!) as well as phony radio transmissions and sound effects worthy of a Hollywood movie. Many of the men in this unit were true artists.
