Children who grew up in the 80s and 90s can't be scared: we were shown Watership Down and Don Bluth's animated movies - whose plots are scattered with murder, betrayal, kidnapping of orphans, sexual harassment and the threat of eternal damnation. Mothers being mortally wounded and dying in front of their children. People turning to corpses, corpses turning to rattling skeletons, skeletons turning to ash and ash being blown away in the same sequence. Mice wielding bloodied swords. Lots of bleeding animals - and I mean lots. Psycho looks like The Sound Of Music in comparison!
